What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is a natural hyaluronic acid gel used to restore the lost volume that occurs with aging, correcting facial lines, wrinkles and folds. Restoration of facial volume loss with Restylane® results in a healthier, more youthful appearance.
What is Restylane® made of?
Restylane® is composed of hyaluronic acid which is a naturally found component of our skin.
Why is hyaluronic acid so important?
Healthy, young skin is smooth and elastic and contains a large amount of hyaluronic acid. The lower skin layer, also called the dermis, primarily contains two protein fibers: collagen and elastin. Together collagen and elastin create a framework for supporting essential skin structures. The dermis is hydrated by floating these proteins and other vital skin structures in a “sea” of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is capable of binding 1000 times its own weight in water and is essential for maintaining skin integrity and fullness.
The ability of our skin to produce hyaluronic acid slowly diminishes with time. A consequence of this volume loss is our skin becomes looser leading to wrinkles and an aged appearance. Treatment with Restylane® replaces this lost hyaluronic acid restoring your skin to a healthier, more youthful appearance.
How does Restylane® differ from other hyaluronic acid-based products?
Restylane® is free from animal proteins eliminating the risk for transmission of animal-based disease or allergy to animal proteins.
What areas can be treated with Restylane®?
Restylane® is primarily used to correct facial lines, wrinkles and folds. Areas most commonly treated include:

Will my facial expressions continue to look natural?

Is treatment with Restylane® painful?
Restylane® is injected in tiny aliquots using an ultrafine needle. Topically applied local numbing creams are often used to minimize any discomfort during this quick procedure. The treatment is performed literally in a matter of minutes. No specific care is needed after the treatment.
Can I use Restylane® with Botox®?
Yes, in many areas we utilize both products which are not only complementary but also the effects are synergistic in most cases. By relaxing muscle movement with Botox® before injecting Restylane®, we often obtain a better aesthetic correction and the Restylane® treatments tend to last longer.
How long does Restylane® last?
Results with Restylane® are practically instantaneous and typically last up to six months.
